7 ways to dramatically improve your Facebook campaigns

The other day, a friend who organizes summer camps for kids called the office. He asked for advice on how to make his Facebook ad campaigns more successful. "I'm putting $5 in there for them, but they're not doing well. Is there anything else I can do?", asked Zdravko.

Improving your Facebook campaign results without simply increasing your budget and spending more can be a challenge, especially when you're not an expert. However, there are a few things that will bring you success. The results will be even better if you invest some time and energy to test different options.

  1. Choose your audience correctly

You really need to target your campaign to a specific group of people where it will be most effective. Targeting advertising to the widest range of people doesn't work (at least with us and our customers). The more specifically targeted the content of the campaign, the better the results. This can relate to the photo selection for the campaign, the language and tone of the text, or the demographic specifics you select when targeting. If your goal is still to reach a huge number of people, break it down into small and groups and create a separate campaign for each group. If you don't know your audience that well, Facebook offers an option where you can target fans similar to your brand.

  1. Make the most of your cover photo

You can attract more fans and improve reach and number of likes by making some kind of game or contest with ad on your cover photo. There are many successful examples (such as your fans sending a photo of your product and the most original one becoming the cover of your page for a week). There are many more ways to promote your brand and products on this free advertising space. All it takes is a good idea and some digital processing.

  1. Use an attractive image

You don't have to use the company logo or a specific product for the image. Instead, use something(relevant if possible) that will grab people's attention to read the ad. Since you can't put more than 20% text the image itself should catch the eye. If you manage to grab the audience's attention, half the battle is won.

  1. Use video

Video drives a lot of engagement on Facebook (almost always more than images and text). Instead of a static image with text and a link, you can assemble the available information as an attractive video. This is a great way to lift engagement with your fans and potential customers because people love to watch videos and thus perceive your brand even better. Creating a video takes more time and resources, but it pays off!

  1. Create content that is attractive to share

You don't have to advertise your brand or product directly. You can just attract people like share an interesting article or tip that targets the people you generally target as potential customers. This way they will want to share the content and associate themselves with your brand. The benefits are clear.

A fresh example from our practice: on the occasion of May 24th we made a stylish and attractive image, which in an unusual way celebrated the holiday of all Bulgarians. In just 2-3 hours it gathered twenty likes (in a page with 400 likes in total) and was shared several times, but that's not the important thing. What interested us was how many people saw our image. Five thousand! We immediately put in an extra $5 budget. After two days, the results were very good, and the most amazing and absolute example of the power of attractive content is that the people reached organically were significantly more than those who saw the post thanks to the funding.

  1. Try different options

It's always important to try a few different versions of your campaign with different images, headline and text. It's always a good idea to set aside a small portion of your budget to see which campaign performs best and direct the rest towards that. Originally from may seem like an expensive exercise, but it will pay off in the futurewhen you yourself gain more experience and confidence that you know your audience.

  1. Connect
    1. Connect
      1. Connect

You often see pages where brands run promotion after promotion of their products and nothing else. First you need to connect with your "fans". Try for 30 days to do nothing but communicate with consumers without promoting your business even once. I know some will think that this is not productive but we must remember that the main purpose of social media is exactly that - to communicate and connect. The result will be a much more engaged audience that responds more even to promotional posts.
