This summer, and over the last few weekends, our team put in a lot of miles. We personally tried out different digital organizing tools. If you're addicted to your phones like we are, here's how you can use them on your next excursion.<\/p>\n
To make our journey a real pleasure, many apps are also available. What do we need? A smartphone and... possibly free Wi-Fi access. And some of them are also available without an internet connection.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Transport to the destination<\/strong><\/p>\n Before each trip, we need to do a thorough review of our transportation options, prices and times. How can this be done in the quickest and easiest way possible? Apps like Google Flights<\/a> \u0438 SkySkanner<\/a>. Thanks to them, you will assess how much budget you will need and what alternative transport you can use.<\/p>\n Reserving a place to fall asleep<\/strong><\/p>\n A survey is also required for your place of stay. It often happens that someone is deceived by the photos of a hostel, hotel or other type of shelter. Applications such as Orbitz<\/a> or TripAdvisor<\/a> allow you to read reviews and view photos from people who have already been to a place. That way, at least you'll be sure you've made a good choice. But sometimes it happens that we are late for our reservation due to transport problems, and so we lose the prepaid. That way both parties are happy.<\/strong><\/p>\n Organizing<\/strong><\/p>\n In a journey there is always something to forget. But no one wants to forget a ticket or confirmation of registration... For the more distracted it appears TripIt<\/a> - helps you connect to your email account and automatically combines your trip information based on the emails you receive. It will select flight details, hotel, car rental, even restaurant reservation for you. If you're worried about all that, TripIt is your ideal partner for storing and organizing all your important information in one place.<\/p>\n And speaking of organizing, we should not underestimate the time! Perfect World Clock<\/a> \u00a0Shows you the exact time in the country you are in. It helps you to select as many watches as you want and always be \"in time\".<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Security<\/strong><\/p>\n To avoid what happened to me in Slovakia, I will use \u00a0<\/strong>application \u00a0<\/strong>TravelSafe<\/a>. The app is wonderful and contains all the necessary emergency numbers - ambulance, police, fire. People travelling to the UK have access to the Pro version, which also includes contact with the embassy in case of lost or stolen documents.<\/p>\n Currency<\/strong><\/p>\n When travelling abroad, outside the European Union, it is good to have information about the local currency. Here are two suggestions from those available in the space for your use.<\/p>\n XE Currency<\/a> - this app is easy and uses real-time currency updating. It has been used over 5 million times, so don't even think about skipping it.<\/p>\n Or if you want to upgrade, check out Converter Plus<\/a>. The advantages of this app are that besides currency, you can convert from one weight to another, distances, and even calculate a percentage for tipping.<\/p>\n Navigation <\/strong><\/p>\n It is not always easy to find our way in an unfamiliar place. Maps are faithful companions, but today we can use their modern version with a bunch of additions.<\/p>\n For example Maps.me<\/a> \u0438 here.com<\/a> lets you search for locations around the world, choose a region, and then download a map to use without internet. You have the option to get from A to B without Wi-Fi. Maps of Maps.me<\/a> even contain details that are missing in Google Maps and this is the main advantage of the app.<\/p>\n Roadtrippers<\/a> is waiting for you for each new destination. Set your route, what you like and the app will suggest the best on your way. It'll find out-of-the-ordinary attractions, restaurants, campsites, etc. for you. When something catches your eye, just add it to your list and Roadtrippers<\/a> will organise the trip accordingly.<\/p>\n As for traffic, Waze<\/a> shows exactly that, as well as repairs, policemen or accidents on the road. You can even see the speed at which cars are moving in a traffic jam. In cities it's familiar among taxi drivers, but it's also used for highways. But beware - the app constantly needs your location, and this leads to faster battery drops.<\/p>\n Tourist tour<\/strong><\/p>\n Yeeee, it's time for the entertainment apps. The best way to get to know a culture is by trying the local food, exploring museums, attending traditional events. Here's how to do that:<\/p>\n Viator<\/a> - If you want to fit in your budget and even save, this app is perfect for you. It will show you discounts for the place you are at or the next one. Great for ideas of exactly what to see and do. And the prices of the offers vary according to the city you are in.<\/p>\n City Guides and Offline Maps by Stay.com<\/a> - allows you to explore new destinations, and you can plan your trip, upload it to the site and store it. That way you can use it without an internet connection while you're touring a place.<\/p>\n Communications<\/strong> Among the communications are postcards. Yes, if we think of them. \u00a0<\/strong>Archives for memory<\/strong><\/p>\n If you haven't shared on the networks, it's as if it didn't happen. A pleasure after each trip, and during it, is the likes that \"rain down\" for each photo. That's why saving the moments is especially important.<\/p>\n While our phones can capture a simple cityscape, sometimes their capabilities aren't enough to convey the depth and beauty of places like the Grand Canyon. To avoid such cases and frowning faces afterwards, Tripcast<\/a> offers to create an album, tag people and let them follow each photo before it's uploaded. How convenient, right?<\/p>\n Or if you want to present your photos as a narrative or show a subject from different angles, then<\/span> you must download Flipagram<\/a>.
