Autumn has come, and with it waking up after the summer holidays. The sun continues to be a faithful companion and the activities in the capital (and not only) start with full steam. With the new school year starting soon, we don't intend to pretend to be all-knowing and are happy to get back to the learning process. I believe that learning is for life and for this reason I was very happy to see the business calendar of the capital - rich in seminars, lectures and courses. Best of all, all of these events provide an opportunity to add a little wisdom from practitioners in areas that accompany our core business.
I'm happy to share the events we'll be attending with Proper media colleagues in the next few weeks. Just see if you liked anything and meet up somewhere 🙂
Event #1: Third season of Business Academy 9 Academy
I won't hide that I have a bias towards number 1 on the list. For the third year in a row, I am part of Business 9 Academy, where with a team of young professionals and experts from Bulgarian business, we help other active people to learn and develop. The trainings themselves aim to give an overall view of how businesses and departments function in organisations. They are divided into 9 modules in the following areas: entrepreneurship, marketing, sales, finance and accounting, human resources, NGOs, legal, Digital/IT and PR.
The Academy is valuable not only for its methodology, which relies on informal methods of learning, but also for the community it creates. I could not describe how powerful and fruitful the interaction between people who want change not only for themselves, but for society, proves to be. If you are looking for new challenges and knowledge, you can apply for the third edition until 30 September.
The details: 9 Academy started its trainings in November, the duration is 6 months. Each module contains 4-5 trainings, with a personal development module in addition.
Suitable for: students; working people; people with their own business; people seeking personal and professional development.
Event #2: The Academy of personal finance and investing of Stoyne Vassilev
For the first time in the office, Miryanka mentioned the Academy. She has been waiting for it since before the summer, and for a long time she has been talking with a lot of curiosity about money, but not as an end in itself, but as a means to live with less stress and enjoy life. So SmartMoney.bg has become quite a popular site in our office! The founder is Stoyne Vassilev, who shares his experience in an engaging way and helps us to understand how financial laws work in our daily lives.
On 12 October, the Personal Finance Academy will be launched. "Spend less than you get and invest the remainder wisely. Everyone knows it. The problem isn't that you don't know what to do, it's how to do it." Stoyne Vassilev and company claim they can fill the missing link by teaching practical money management skills.
In addition to the Academy, SmartMoney.bg also offers shorter courses (such as Two-day practical course on personal finance and investing in Varna), as well as lots of materials and articles that will help you develop a pretty good understanding of the place of money in our lives and what to do with it (if you've ever wondered, hehe).
The details: 12 sessions (9 modules and 3 workshops), from 12 October to 23 November, twice a week at 19:00.
Suitable for: everyone! Whether you have your own business or work in the civil service. It is enough to have an interest and want to increase your financial literacy to make your money work for you.
Event #3: Soft skills VS. No skills: Soft skills can change your life/business
As people who deal with communications, we know that they are important at all levels and their constant upgrading is valuable. Agreed? Yet the difference between communicating digitally and in person is palpable.
In the one-day seminar on September 12, I saw an opportunity to remind myself about the rules in communication, and the part about holding a business meeting piqued my interest even more. The other thing I can't help but point out is one of the speakers at the seminar - Sava Bobchev. His experience is extensive and I have had the pleasure of attending a training with him. He has also been the General Director of Puma Bulgaria, National Sales Manager at Rekit Benkiser Bulgaria and Wrigley Bulgaria. For me this is enough to recommend The event.
Suitable for: IT start-ups, freelancers and other professionals.
Event #4: Commercial Tournament in the Aula of Sofia University.
"What will the world lose if you don't develop the salesman in you?" ask the organizers.
I was first attracted to the title of this seminar. We all "sell" on a daily basis. We sell our business, our products, an idea for a dinner, an event, we sell ourselves when we are interviewing. And one more thing we do well to remind ourselves - people buy for people, not for anything else. So what I'm saying is that selling is not a scary thing and everyone is capable of doing it and does it every day. But to realize this, we usually need a little side help. So my curiosity led me to sign up for the sales tournament - I want to know what type of sales intelligence I possess, what the difference is between ownership, possession and control and if I could further develop myself as a "salesperson". I don't know this part of my personality very well and would love to get to know it better to test and apply later. I will also get an insight into the work of all the likeable colleagues in the commercial department, the challenges they face and the techniques they apply. I will be able to put myself "in their shoes" which in turn will help me in my work with them.
Suitable for: current and prospective business owners, salespeople and marketers.
Event #5: SoReadable: Book of Changes
Our last stop is focused on creativity and words. How else? We need to be able to convey our customers' messages in a way that is not only useful, but also exciting.
The event is part of SOHO's cultural programme and monthly series of literary readings. What grabbed me when I read about "Book of Changes" is that the book can be read from front to back, back to front, or middle to middle. And it's a book of changes because its protagonist is constantly changing. What the organizers guarantee us is change and lots of stories. And the author of the work is the first to be invited to one of the most important European theatre festivals.
I look forward to discovering something surprising and unconventional. Such events are needed for inspiration in the monotony of everyday life, to give us a little boost and help us enrich the reservoir of ideas we draw from every day. Or at least part of my formula for creativity looks like this.
Suitable for: people seeking, creative professions, artistic personalities or all curious.
I hope you have discovered something for yourself. And if not, you could look for what you need right now and trust your intuition.
